International Mother Language Day was celebrated in E-max Group of Institutions to encourage linguistic and cultural variety. Various ideas about promoting the mother language were discussed in a very live interactive session of the speakers with the students. On this occasion Foreign Language club has been inaugurated by Om Prakash Aggarwal Chairman of the College.
The Ceremony commenced with lighting of Lamp followed by formal welcome address by Director General Dr. Baljeet Kapoor of the College. Over 200 students of various disciplines were present on the occasion. Besides the external Speakers faculty members and other directors of the College were also present.
Native Russian Citizen Anna Sizova from Moscow State University and Usha Dogra, Experienced German Language Expert and Dipin Dhingra Centre Manager from Dell were amoung the speakers of the day.
Anna Sizova said that Intercultural understanding begins with individuals who have language abilities and who can thereby provide one's own nation or community with an insider's view into foreign cultures, who can understand foreign news sources, and give insights into other perspectives on international situations and current events. For survival in the global community, every nation needs such individuals.
Usha Dogra said that as globalization and mobility and communications are bring the world ever closer together, ever more urgent is the need for global citizens to be competent in other languages.
Inaugurating the Foreign Language Club Chairman of E-max said that strategies to promote language learning and hold up language diversity needs to be formulated. He said that in the era of globalization it has become necessary for Management Students to know at least the basics of some of the most spoken foreign languages. He said that person competent in other languages can bridge the gap between cultures, contribute to international diplomacy, promote national security and world peace, and successfully engage in international trade.
