Emax Group of Institutions organised an extensive student outreach programme on World Energy Conservation
Day. Seminar and Informatory sessions
were organized to aware students for Energy conservation. Declamation along with paper reading
competition was organized. Students were made aware by demonstrating models of
solar systems, wind systems and hydel systems. Various devices which can be
used for energy conservation were demonstrated and explained to students.
A number of students from the periphery participated in the
paper reading & declamation
competitions organized in order to make students aware about energy
conservation. Dr Sushil Kumar Kaura,
elaborated on the importance of energy conservation in the present scenario.
Dr. Kaura shared, “Energy conservation refers to efforts made to reduce energy
consumption which can be achieved through increased efficient energy use or
reduced consumption from conventional energy sources. This can lead to increase
in capital, environmental quality and economic security. Considering the need
to make the next generation more aware regarding efficient use of energy
resources, it is necessary to educate the kids first. In this regard, promotion
of energy efficiency in schools has been initiated by the power com through
which the students of schools, colleges shall be made aware about the energy
crisis we shall be facing one fine day if we do not contribute our share
towards the conservation of this precious energy,” he further said.
Head of Department Mechanical Engineering Er. Jai Singh told
the audience about various alternative sources of energy, which could be tapped
to reduce our dependence on non-renewal energy resources. He also highlighted
the potential use of solar, tidal, wind, geothermal and biomass energies for
several applications in our day today life.
“We shall be educating
the students regarding very small seeming but crucial things related to energy
conservation as turning off lights when not in use, forming an energy patrol to
ensure that lights are out there is nobody in, removing unneeded light
fixtures, using energy efficient compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) and
light-emitting diode (LED) bulbs,” Chairman of the group Om Prakash Aggarwal added.
